Guest guest
Animal charcol is used in sugar, right? Well what about salt and bleached flour. I don't think many people can avoid salt. I am going vegan and let me tell you. I live in a small town. It is very difficult to find vegan food without selling my body to pay for it (jk on that part but it is very expensive). A bag of vegan chocolate chips cost me $3.50 US dollars. And the bread costs about the same. I can't find sucanut in the store OR some of the spices i need for food (Braggs, for example). Somebody help!
Guest guest
You wouldn't happen to be using Dining in the Raw or some other Rita Romano cookbook, by any chance, would you? That woman calls for "Braggs" in everything. Braggs is just a salt substitute so if you can't find it, just use salt To answer your salt question, basic table salt is NaCl. Sodium chloride. Though it is vegan, it's not terribly good for you. You might want to try just looking for sea salt which they now carry in most major supermarkets. And if you are on a budget, you might want to try to stay away from "Health Food Stores" with the exception of when you are looking for a specialty, hard-to-find item. Their products tend to be pricier b/c the brands that they carry are smaller and they have to cover their own overhead. Hope that helps! jojo "moontears19 <moontears19" <moontears19 wrote: Animal charcol is used in sugar, right? Well what about salt and bleached flour. I don't think many people can avoid salt. Guest guest
Not all sugar is made using animal charcoal - but I'm afraid I don't know which ones are. You don't need to add salt to your food at all. There is enough in vegetables and salad (celery etc). We occasionally use Lo-Salt which is 40% sodium chloride and 60% potassium chloride - a lot healthier. Good luck being vegan. It takes a while to find out what you can and cannot eat - but you get used to reading the labels etc. Jo > Animal charcol is used in sugar, right? Well what about salt and > bleached flour. Guest guest
salt is ok, well, sorta..it doesn't have animal products in it tho, try sea salt, less processed and generaly will have more minerals in it fer sugar, try sugar in the raw, er try beet sugar(as opposed to sugar cane)..as beet sugar isn't processed with bone char..there is also sucunat, and stevia and..well, lotsa things..tho, being in a small ton it maybe harder fer ya braggs..braggs taste like soy sace..so, you can use that as a substitute as fer bread..make yer own!! get some organic wheat flour, maybe some flax flour if you can, some bread yeast, and have at it..there are a billion and ten recipe books out there..heck, go thru the archives here, i must have dumped 300 recipes on these poor folks good luck, and don't be afraid to ask questions! fraggle " moontears19 <moontears19 " <moontears19 wrote: > >Animal charcol is used in sugar, right?
