nuts

beans

lentils

peanuts

pumpkins and sunflower seeds

soybeans

flax seeds

heck, tons of stuff!!

as fer " ingredients " , there are tons of animal ingredients hidden in products

Hi Sandra

Welcome to vegan chat - we're a little quiet at the moment, but are usually a bit busier than this! *prodding list to wake people up*

There's loads of places to get protein - nuts, tofu, soya, etc. (I see Fraggle has already given a big long list)

Again, all sorts of stuff - most of the surprising ones are drinks - most wines, Coca Cola, a couple of beers (Guinness I believe is one - but as I don't drink I don't keep up with which beers are OK and which aren't). In terms of food, easiest thing is to read the ingedients - it's not all-encompassing, but will give you an idea. Watch out for stuff like whey, lactose, shellac. Also, sometimes things with added vitamin D (vitamin D2 is animal friendly). Generally, I avoid stuff which just says "flavourings" and doesn't give details, because there's no way to know without getting in touch with the manufacturers. There's also a huge list of "E" numbers to look out for. Check out the vegan society (UK) web page (I don't know the address, but if you do a search on Vegan Society UK you should be able to find it).

yes, but it will get better

this week I am luckily going to be at the branch that is only about

30-45 minutes away, so I will be getting home earlier

plus now that I am acquainted with the new place, I can always visit

customers on the way to the farther branch and this way leave later,

and if I visit the branch in the afternoon between customers, chances

are I will get home earlier as well. So it should get easier as I go

along

next week tho I travel to Boston, Mass for a big meeting

I'm lucky enough to be able to work from home some of the time, but

when I do have to go in it's an 80 mile journey from Bognor (West

Sussex)to Sidcup (Kent). Yesterday I set off at 6:12 and arrived at

12:19. The M23 was out of action and it was virtual gridlock. After

over 6 hours with no loo and no tea I was not in the best of moods!

And then I had to start my day's work! Still, what can you do when

there's no work in your area and you're an only child with a divorced

mother in her seventies just down the road? I'm here for the

duration. It's not always an easy choice!

Cheers

Cathy

Good Morning Jo! :)

Thanks, actually I really like it a lot!

And come february, I will " lose " the farther branch branch, keep the

closer one and gain a new one that is closer to me as well. So my

territory will actually change for the better. So I guess I can keep

up the long commute for a few more months. Especially when i know

what the end result will be.

At least I'm not driving! :)

Use to have to drive to Springfield, IL, St. Louis, MO, IA, and

Indianapolis, IN all the time. Though these are not quite as far,

still a pain in the back! :)
