Guest guest
Best advice I can give on portion control is to make a HUGE salad (with no added fat in the dressing - use lemon juice, herbs, special vinegars, whatever, instead or look for a non-fat dressing if you like) and eat it until you are just about full. Only then go for the 'main course' - IF you can face one after all that lovely fresh produce. And oh yes - put your main course on a small plate. As for exercise, have you tried exercise videos? One in the middle of the afternoon (for you, since you leave work at 2) would pep you up so that you can enjoy the rest of your day and it would keep you fit. Leslie Sansome is good, although there are lots of others. I find a daily half-hour workout with her does a lot for my wellbeing as well as my weight. Also, try a little jogging on the spot at home while you watch, say, the news broadcase or a favourite programme on TV. It all adds up, even three or four minutes of it at a time. And walk everywhere you can walk - even ordinary walking helps to burn calories and keeps your body fit and healthy. Sorry to be so rushed, but had to respond Good luck. I did have some nuts near the end of the week, but other than that it's been a very low fat, vegetarian week. Two Areas of " opportunity " : I've got to work on portion control. I know I'm eating the right foods now, but I'm eating too much. Any tips or recommendations that you've found have helped you with portion control? Also, I have a very physical job, but I feel like I still need to work out at least three times a week in order to loose weight. Can't seem to get there. I work from 6 am - 2 pm and I just want to go home after work. Beyond telling me to " just do it " , any additional tips or recommendations? I'm thinking maybe I need to put together some sort of home exercise routine. That might be a more realistic expectation than going to the gym after a long day at work. Thanks! Guest guest
Thanks, the salad tip is great. I love salads during the warm months. The winters are so long and so cold here that I find myself craving hot, hearty meals. I buy salad fixins, intending to have them several days a week and then I don't. I need to redouble my salad efforts. Guest guest
Hey Karla ~ One thing that helped me with portion control is to split up the dish when I am serving it. For example, if what I make makes 4 servings, I get out my food containers and a plate and divy it up into 4 servings. I don't do this much anymore since I got a sense of portion sizes thru doing that for a while. As far as exercise, can't help you there as I am not too active myself. :-) Cindi --- On Sun, 1/18/09, bkbb64 <tincup1 wrote: bkbb64 <tincup1 One Week Success Sunday, January 18, 2009, 7:20 AM Today is my one week mark success.
