Guest guest
We are going on 2nd November to a local fireworks night, run by a local scout group and I have been able to discuss with the organisers who have agreed to accept some vegan sausages or burgers on the bbq (cooked separately from the meat, although most likely will be with the veggie sausages which contain a minute amount of egg or dairy). They normally have a vegetarian choice such as Linda McCartney's anyway, but they are quite happy for me to arrange for them to be having a few vegan items this time. I am going to mix up some Burgamix or Sosmix or take some Vegetarians Choice burgers or sausages for them to cook and they will state on the sign that there is a vegan choice. So, in the absence of any actual World Vegan Day event locally around this time, we would love it for some vegans and vegetarians to meet up for bonfire night, if you want to come please let me know and I will get the tickets from the organisers who are parents at my children's school. The organisers say they have never had any call for vegan food before, and I said that for me even as vegan contact it feels as if vegans hide themselves away, because we never see any other local vegans for many months sometimes. I would really like us to show that there is vegan demand at such events, since we have been to other bonfire night events and never found any vegan food on sale, but then we never asked in advance before. The scout hall where it is being held is at 1a Walton Rd, off Headstone Drive (near Kodak's), from 5-11pm, 2nd November, with the fireworks starting at 7.45pm. Tickets are £3 per person with under 5's free. I think all the tickets will be sold in advance, not on the door. Lesley
