Guest guest
So true, Barbara. Otoh, this is a discussiion group and advice and opinion here is given when people post, because they would not post without wanting advice or opinion. Since this is also a veg group, the advice is likely to be vegetarian in nature, other suggestions being unacceptable really - right? LOL Problematic, I agree, but it's a choice people make when joining a support group. If we need doctor's care, that enters in and we have to use common sense. No matter what your choices, you are ultimately the one who will or will not benefit. I say to all others stay to quiet, unless asked for advise. Having a family member try to " boss you, " is annoying...as are friends who say: " Oh you must eat meat or whatever, to keep you healthy. " They all have great ideas but they are not you. Amazing how people think they know everything! Barb K. AZ/OR
Guest guest
I agree. I'm only responsible for me. My doctor never mentions diet and since I've become very overweight while under her care, she should have. I only mention not eating meat when it comes up for some reason--usually when I am being offered food. When I say I don't eat meat, they usually say, how do you find enough to eat. Since I'm about 50 lbs overweight, my standard answer is to look down at my body and say--Not a problem. If they mention getting enough protein, I say I watch my protein intake to make sure I get enough--that's usually to family members who are sincerely worried about me. The only time I say anything to others to suggest that they not eat meat is when they talk about having indigestion and I tell them that I had indigestion before I stopped eating meat--that's one reason I stopped eating meat.
