Guest guest
Julia, wow congrats to you for keeping up such a crazy diet! I am vegan, soy and gluten free and can't imagine giving up fruit, potatoes and all of that as well. Anyway I would recommend taking a vegetarian multi-v, that includes all your b-vitamins. I also use a brown rice protein powder that is only 10 dollars per canister at Fred Meyer. Perhaps you could blend it with rice milk and...some kind of veggie maybe? also can you have corn? polenta with hummus and salsa is really good. for a quick snack that has substance I like to use hummus as a dip with hearts of romaine. hope that helps a bit...let me know what you come up with Courtney --- Julia Goessler <juliagoessler wrote: > Hi Everybody, > > I'm Julia and was put on a Vegan, Gluten- and > Sugarfree diet by my doctor 3 weeks ago. > Additionally I'm not allowed to have pork, chicken, > any seafood (fish I can have) nor any fruit > (fructose), nor any yeast, potatoes or fermented > food... > Amazingly I am kind of holding up and I even > survived 4 days Bahamas on salads and rice cakes > (Bahamas doesn't cater for us ;-)). > But I'm running out of ideas, especially for > breakfast. Guest guest
I've had a look in the files for some recipes. Here's just a few breakfast ideas. I wasn't sure if you are allowed soy, so I included that anyway. Some do include chicken-style seasoning which usually contains yeast so that may need to be subbed. From the " Breakfast " folder (in the " Files " section) : - Thermos Cereal (*SF) - Crockpot Cereal (SF) - Egyptian Style Fava Beans (SF) - Stoplight Tofu - Hot Breakfast Porridge (SF) - Rice Cereal, Chinese Style (Congee) (SF) - Rice Cream (SF) - Country Omelet - Dana's Scrambled Tofu - Omelet ala Garbanzo (SF) - Scrambled Tofu From the " Pancakes, Latkes, Crepes, Corn Cakes and Tortillas " folder: - Sunflower Seed Cakes (SF) - Veggie Corn Cakes - Chickpea Pancakes (SF) - Buckwheat Pancakes Kim, Australia. , Julia Goessler <juliagoessler wrote: > > Hi Everybody, > > I'm Julia and was put on a Vegan, Gluten- and Sugarfree diet by my doctor 3 weeks ago. I'd suggest questioning the doctor's rational for avoiding fruit. Fructose is a complex carbohydrate; and natural, whole fruits contain important nutrients. Fruits like apples and oranges actually cause a slower, lower peak in the blood sugar (which is a good thing) than rice. Here's a quick and easy glycemic index table so you can see what I mean. The lower numbers are preferrable: http://www.diabetesnet.com/diabetes_food_diet/glycemic_index.php > But I'm running out of ideas, especially for breakfast. Guest guest
Hi everybody, Thanks a lot for the answers. I also forgot to mention: I can't have corn and soy and tomatoe either..... everytime something else is not good for me.... i'm on a whole lot of supplements to keep everything going, though. @deborah: sorry, vegan was wrong as I can have fish and chicken... you're right. fruit will be reintroduced in about 3 months (can anybody imagine how one can just crave for grapes.... ;-)? I can) i'm just starting with restricted eating, but I am determined to keep it up. My friends think i'm weird when I tell them, my treats are humus and goat's cheese. ;-) julia - Courtney Burnett Wednesday, April 12, 2006 6:52 PM Re: Vegan, Gluten- and Sugarfree Julia, wow congrats to you for keeping up such a crazy diet! Guest guest
Hello, I am new here. I am a vegetarian/vegan who is also allergic to all dairy, eggs, potatoes, tomatoes and also a sensitivity to wheat. Are there any recipes that are fairly easy and nutritious? We like spaghetti, vegetarian chili but the tomato sauce does not work for me. Anything close to " old favorites " ? Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Danielle --- Julia Goessler <juliagoessler wrote: > Hi everybody, > > Thanks a lot for the answers. Guest guest
Hi Danielle, Welcome to our group. If you go to our website and click on 'files' you'll find a tab for all our recipes that have been posted. You should be able to find some recipes there for the 'old foods' that you are missing. If you need something in particular, say the word, and someone here probably has a recipe for it. We are happy to help! LaDonna
Guest guest
Hi Julia and everyone, I am new here too. I just started doing much the same as you by choice, hoping to feel better physically and get my depression under control. My dad has celiacs, but I was told by the Dr. I do not have it (yet). Looking forward to learning more from all of you - Lib , Julia Goessler <juliagoessler wrote: > > Hi Everybody, > > I'm Julia and was put on a Vegan, Gluten- and Sugarfree diet by my doctor 3 weeks ago.
