Guest guest
We defrost the loaf a bit in the microwave and the slices come off well (a table knife for some help makes it a little easier). You have to treat food for life bread like fine china to keep it from breaking apart. A good store bought bread that doesn't crumble is Ener-G. My son likes the Tapioca loaf the most. They also make nice burger and hot dog buns. You may want to give those a try too. On Behalf Of lickifu Monday, October 17, 2005 11:22 AM Working with Frozen Commercial GF Bread I had a bad first experience with frozen commercial gf bread (Glutino brand - I found it tasteless and impossible to toast properly), but I decided that I would give commercial gf bread a second chance, so I picked up a loaf of Food for Life Raisin Pecan bread. I tried it as soon as I got home, and I found the bread to be reasonably tasty (albeit too sweet). The problem is, I am having a really hard time getting slices of bread off of the frozen loaf (it probably took me 20 minutes to get on slice off and I destroyed 1.5 other slices in the process). Has anyone else had this problem? Should I just defrost the loaf? I'm also having a problem toasting the bread - the edges get really toasty but the middle doesn't... Guest guest
Glutino is my favourite brand, but not in the plain varieties. I like the flax bread, the corn bread, and the hamburger buns. There are other brands I like and don't like, though I haven't tried Food for Life (Never seen it here). Anyway, if you just let the loaf thaw for about 5 minutes on the counter, the bread will pop off much better. And as for toasting, let the piece thaw a few more minutes before putting it in. Don't put the bread in the microwave. It'll get all chewy/hard/icky. Shannon p.s. And save ruined pieces for bread crumbs.
