Kids parties, etc.

I have a family of seven (ages 3 through 15) - not all

are vegan not all are GF - which means lots of

parties, sleepovers, BBQs, etc. Whenever we as a

family or one of the kids are going over to someone

else's house, I always bring or send along enough

Vegan-GF food for lots of other people. The kids

shouldn't feel separated from the rest of the group

because of what they eat... nor do I want the host

family to think it is their responsibility to meet my

eating needs. Everywhere we go is like our own pot

luck. It means more cooking on your part, but who

cares, as a parent for the health of the family, we'll

do anything.

By bringing more than enough of the " good stuff " ... we

share, the kids share, introduce others to new foods,

show others that " yes, we do eat more than celery and

tofu " and surprisingly enough, convert a few " ooo, I

hate soy " people.

Our house is always full of others people's kids as

well. The parents always know there are plenty of

food options at our house and chances are I have the

ingredients to make anything to satisfy any allergy or

restriction.

If you don't make a big deal out of what you will and

will not eat or can and cannot eat, and just state it

as a matter of fact, others (yes, even kids) won't

make a big deal out of it either.
