What a fun thing to plan for! We gave Hallowe'en type parties every year while our daughter was growing up, since her birthday is in late October. I still have the menu printed on a construction paper gravestone, but it's still packed with the decorations. However, we frequently made stew (or your chili) that we served inside a hollowed out baked pumpkin or else vegan stuffing inside one. (Or you can do this with many small pumpkins for individual servings.) We had a funny name for ants-on-a-log (peanut butter in celery dotted with raisins). Sandwiches could be made and then the bread cut into Hallowe'en shapes with cookie cutters. Hot cider is fun as " witch's brew, " and you can fashion little brooms out of cinnamon sticks wrapped at the bottom with a strip of thinly sliced orange peel that's been snipped. A vegan bundt or regular cake can be made with a graveyard scene on top; alternately you can do this with cupcakes. You can make vegan gelatin (Emes makes both plain and flavored) with grapes decorated as eyes suspended in it. You can make a " skull salad " with a half canned pear placed on green lettuce leaves using raisins for eyes, nose, and teeth. Spaghetti and marinara sauce can be " blood and guts. " That's all I can think of for now, but I'll post more if I think of them. Sherry
