Guest guest
~ Does anyone know if Red Hot Cinnamon candies are vegan and gluten free? Red Hot Cinnamon Candied Apples The cinnamon flavored coating on candied apples. Best with Granny Smith or Red Delicious. 1-2/3 cups cinnamon red hot candies 2 TB water 12 apples 1. Insert craft sticks into apples. Line a baking sheet with waxed paper. 2. In a heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium-high heat, pour candies and water. Occasionally brushing down sides of pan with a heat-resistant pastry brush, heat candy to 300º to 310º F., or until a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms hard, brittle threads. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. 3. Dip apples in hot liquid and place on waxed paper to harden.

Guest guest
Here's another idea that 'might' work, though! I saw this on FoodTV yesterday. They made a syrup (sugar and Karo --- maybe Florida Crystals and Maple or Agave Syrups would work out instead) and brought the mixture to a boil. Place apples on a stick and then dunk them in the syrup mixture. Remove and then roll the apple in chopped goodies of your choice (raisins, nuts, seeds, coconut, or vegan candies). They looked yummy! The TV host compared them to $25.00 apples (!) that are found in gourmet shops. ~ LaDonna ~ Re: Red Hot Cinnamon Candied Apples Darn, so close, sigh.
