Guest guest
Refried Bean Mix and/or Dip Source: Country Beans This is a neat idea for a *food gift* to share with friends. Make the mix and put it in a quart jar with a calico and raffia lid. Attach a card with the preparation instructions. To make mix: 1 1/2 cups pinto or black bean flour (purchase at a health food store or make your own by grinding beans in your grain grinder) 1 1/2 tsp. chili powder 1/8 tsp. garlic powder 1/2 tsp. cumin 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. instant minced onions Mix and store. To prepare dip: Whisk 3/4 cup of mixture into 2 1/2 cups of boiling water. Cook over medium heat for one minute until thickens. Reduce heat to low, cover pan, and cook 4 minutes more. Serve as refried beans or add salsa to make a dip consistency. Enjoy!
