Guest guest
I was wondering if anyone else has trouble finding a place that they can go out to eat? It seems that everyplace I go everything that is " meat free " is cooked with meat or has cheese in it. I am all for cooking at home, but it is nice to go out every once in a while. Any suggestions of restaraunt chains where I can get something besides salad would be much appreciated. Thanks, Mandy
Guest guest
I guess I'm pretty lucky to live in Montreal... we have so many different types of food, and even the steakhouses have veggie dishes.. I suggest looking for Indian places, or Meditaranian (Lebanese, Arabic, Kosher) the meditaranian diet is very vegetarian, based around legumes - try a falafel or some couscous. Also go to Italian places and get dishes with Tomato sauce instead of meat sauce. Thai food has lost of great veggie stuff too, you'll just have to get used to asking the waiter before you order. Eventually you'll find some places good luck! Guest guest
I agree. Even in New Zealand lots of vegetarian meals are available in the Indian, Middle Eastern, Thai Restarants. If you ring your regular restaurant up when booking, you can always ask them to cook you up something specail. You will be surprised at how many will. Guest guest
Except I usually find they only offer to make you a vegetable stir fry, which is really very boring in the long run. ;( I know Lebanese restaurants often have several vegetarian or vegan items on their menu. Also, if you're lucky enough to have a Mongolian Barbecue type restaurant in your area, I would recommend that. Personally I love those. You get to put together the food yourself, picking from lots of different kinds of veggies, meat, seafood etc, and also spices, wine etc, and then they fry it up for you. Its especially good if not everyone is a vegetarian since everyone choses what he or she likes and you can just leave the meat out. //Sofia

Some of my veg friends will not eat at those places because the meat and veggies are cooked on the same surface. serene -- " A conservative is someone who worships the views of dead liberals. He went and bought new surfaces and then placed it properly , took the stuff and fried it himself, and then we went and got a tattoo. He put a Brocolli tattoo on his left hand. -tom. Obviously those are the ones to go to... The one I went to when I was a vegetarian was a place like that, or I wouldn't have gone either. //Sofia
