Guest guest
Hi all. I just thought I would up date you on my husband since I was sharing with you. He has had two blood test done now, and both have come back positive for celiac. He will be having his biopsy done December 2nd. We also found through the internet that the blisters on his feet and red rash on his feet and the other skin problems on his body are actually HD, and that people with HD all have Celiac. We have been going to the Drs for the last 5 years for help with this problem none of them knew what it was. Now after researching it , we know. They say that Celiac is a secondary condition and that HD is primary and that is why my husband has not had any weight loss like our son did. Where with our son Celiac was primary and he never had HD. It is all very intersting. My husband is very glum and not happy at all. We figure that the HD/Celiac started about 5 years ago when He hurt his back. He has had cronic pain every since, off and on and has been miserable. They say that a shock to the system can trigger HD/Celiac. We figure that is what happened. That is when all his skin conditions started as well. They say it takes men and average of 5 years to get diagnosed. I guess we fit that mold. Now we have two Celiacs and we know that my daughter is a carrier. I have talked with my husbands parents and his sister. They are all upset because they know they are all carriers too and could possibly get it. My sister in law has been very ill since having her daughter 2 years ago and has always had a wheat allergy which she has chosen to ignore. She is not thin and does not have any skin conditions, so she may not have triggered it, but I talked to her about how important it is for her and her daughter to get regular testing, so that if the Celiac does get triggered they will find out right away and not after they have been sick for a while. We will be talking to my husbands brother over next weekend about it. I get tested every year when they draw my blood when I go in for my yearly gyn exam. I figure they are already drawing my blood, I might as well do the Celiac test. I could also be a carrier as I have Irish/Scottish/German blood lines. So I would rather be safe then sorry about it. Sorry to ramble on so. Thanks for listening. Amy L
