The Alternative Burger

 

 

1 medium onion, finely chopped

1 stalk celery, finely chopped

1 tbsp (3 tsp) GF flour

150 ml (5 oz) water -OR- vegetable stock

225 g (8 oz) mixed nuts, finely chopped

100 g (4 oz) frsh GF breadcrumbs

1 tbsp (3 tsp) GF soy sauce -OR- worcestershire sauce

 

 

Gently fry the onion and celery in a large saucepan until softened.

Stir in the flour and then add the stock or water. Stir and simmer

for 2 - 3 minutes. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients.

Mix well.

 

Shape into 4 large or 8 small burgers. Grill or fry in a frying pan

with very little oil until cooked on both sides.

 

 

Srves 4 - 6.
