Guest guest
I thought this was my grandma's recipe, I was wrong it is from the NY Times Heritage cookbook. 6 cups chopped, peeled apples 6 cups chopped, peeled green tomatoes 4 cups light brown sugar 1 1/3 C cider vinegar 3 C raisins 3 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp ground cloves 3/4 tsp ground allspice 3/4 tsp mace 2 tsp salt 3/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper 1/2 C butter (I usually leave this out) Mix apples and tomatoes together and drain well. Add remaining ingredients except butter. Bring gradually to boiling and let simmer three hours, stirring often. Add butter and mix well. Spoon into hot sterilized canning jars and seal. Cool and store in a dark, dry place. Hope you like it!!! AmyF
