African Spicy Sesame Soup

 

In a coffee or other grinder, combine 1 teaspoon each coriander,

cumin and cardamom seeds and 1/2 cup sesame seeds. Grind.

 

In a blender, combine the ground seeds with 1/2 cup tahini, 1 cup

finely chopped tomatoes, 2 finely chopped celery stalks, 1 finely

chopped large onion, 1-inch piece finely chopped fresh ginger, 2

cloves peeled and finely minced garlic, 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

and 1 teaspoon turmeric. Blend until smooth.

 

Pour into serving dishes and top each with 2 tablespoons of sweet

corn and a few drops of sesame oil.

 

Serves 4.
