Guest guest
Would like to share this email recieved from Ms. Deepti Sharma, resident of a New Delhi suburb called Noida. The recent news of proposed killing of Dogs in New Delhi for the 2010 Commonwealth Games was termed as a 'RUMOUR'. But this is a true incident which is enough food for thought as to why are homeless dogs disappearing, and who is responsible ? Could this be a slow and candid approach of the authorities to get rid of the homeless dog population in New Delhi without being noticed and blamed for ? Could this be happening in other cities across India as well ? Azam Siddiqui --- from deepti sharma <deeptiht to azam24x7 date Mar 27, 2007 9:36 AM Hello Azam How are you? My pet dog,Eddie passed away on January 10..He was attacked by a coupple of homeless dogs on the fifth of jan, in the vicinity of the colony i live in. A number of homeless dogs in this locality keep attacking small puppies especially in the winters and all you can do is only pity there condition..Late at night you hear the puppies crying out when attacked or wailing in pain. There is nothing i can do in the middle of the night.the popullation of stray dogs keep growing every year..Young bitches are ready to give birth to their young ones..You should look at plight of these bitches, from playful pups to starving mothers in no time..and somehow a number of these dogs keep dissapearing every year.I can nomore see the dogs that attacked my dog..Its only been two months.Im not sure if they move to other locations or just dissapear.I hope they dont become the victims of killing by humans. There are a lots of criminals living on the roads, this doesnt allow the Government go mass killing the humans..Why should animals be killed then? In noida, only recently when children were dissapearing and there skeletons were found in the gutters, people had taken it very seriously. Why dont people think when a bitch is killed, there are her children, waiting for her to come back and feed them. When young puppies are killed or tortured, they go through the same pain as a human child or even worse.Dogs give us utmost loyality and love,if at all you cant give it back, atleast dont snatch their right to live.Being human beings, we must know that killing the innocent is absolutely inhumane. If my mail contributes to saving these dogs,i will be greatful. Guest guest
Hi Azam, thank you for sharing this with us - and while this news is NOT good, I am " glad " we finally get some sort of confirmation of what is going on in Delhi. Given the public criticism in recent weeks re. the killings in Bangalore a quiet backdoor approach might just be the thing Delhi authorities were looking for. Doubtless, as you say, many smaller communities across the country will learn from that example .. and quicker than we could wish for ... Dipti, I agree with you. For me also the murder of a hapless, trusting - and above all, innocent - animal is worse than the murder of a Human. O.k. - people, attack me for that - it's just my personal opinion. And I won't discuss that. When as recently as yesterday I saw the news video about the killings in Karnataka, and today I read the report in the last digest - with dogs wagging their tails in front of their killers - I felt such a complete and utter disgust not only for the killers, but man in general, that it is indeed hard to discuss this, and similar matters, with the so often demanded dispassion. No one would ask that if the victim were a Human child .... These animals are completely innocent - so what justification is there for this random and blanket killing of all strays ? One often hears this, " Yes, they MAY eventually pose a threat - attack a Human. " Oh really ? Is that all ? As little as that .. Well, I, and everyone on this list - actually every Human that walks around free und unmolested - is a potential threat to another person, animal, the environment, property, all life on this earth ... and furnished with far more capability of causing harm that all the animals of this world together, mind you. But does that justify our murder - right now, and in order to prevent us from causing harm some time in the future (or not) ? Hardly. It is striking, time and time again, how small the requirements are these days for justifiying massacres among animals. Senseless, paranoid mass murder - business as normal, any day, every day. Whoever feels mankind as evolved since we burned thousands of innocent Humans at the stakes, with a baying mob urging on the flames, ought to think again. " We " have not. We have just shifted to other victims.
