Mother of Vinegar (was feelings adout baking soda in body care?)

The wikipedia has a decent definition:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mother_of_vinegar. The one thing they

leave it is that it is called the 'mother' as it can be added to fresh

cider to turn it into vinegar.
