It varies from person to person. For me, it hits in about 10 minutes with upset

stomach, cramps and bloating and within half an hour I have diarhhea, a headache

and an all over not well feeling.

For my husband it doesn't hit him for 12 - 24 hours. It also depends what one

eats or the quantities and how sensitive the person is. Some people can eat a

whole gluten meal and feel nothing, but eat something with gluten the next day

and wham, it hits big time. Immune systems are different and even if you don't

have any outward signs, there still can be internatl damage you won't see for

weeks.

How quickly do symptoms show up?

If a gluten intolerant person eats gluten, how quickly will they start to

feel ill?

Let's assume it's a McDonald's sausage and biscuit sandwich.

For my husband, it's pretty much immediate...even if it's something as small

as a seasoning that's hidden in something. . .

I don't think it matters what you eat with gluten, it's just gluten in

any quantity. For me symptoms of diahrea, bloating and headaches show

up anywhere from 4 to 8 hours later.

The bloating and the runs last anywhere from 4 to 8 hours provided I

don't eat anything else that contains it. Last time I got slammed I

was camping and we had some sausage that I failed to read the label.
