Turnips with Mustard Greens

Source: Cooking by the Book

This combination of tender-crisp turnip strips and lightly wilted

mustard

greens goes well on a cold winter day!

2 tsp sesame seeds

2 turnips 2 1/2 " (6cm) diameter, peeled and cut into 1/8 " (3mm)

julienne strips

3 Tbsp (45 ml) each lemon juice, water, and vegan sugar

3 Tbsp (45 ml) olive oil

4 cups lightly packed mustard greens

1 small red bell pepper (capsicum), seeded and diced

-OR-

1 - 2 oz (30-60g) jar pimentos, drained

In a wide frying pan, combine turnips, red bell pepper, lemon juice,

water, and

sugar. Cover and bring to a boil over high heat; continue boiling

until turnips

are tender-crisp to the bit, about 3 minutes. Remove lid from pan

and quickly

stir in sesame seeds, oil, and mustard greens. Stir over medium heat

just until

greens are wilted and tender (10 minutes or so). Pour into a shallow

serving

dish. Serve immediately. Sprinkle with imitation baco chips if

desired

(optional).

Serves: 4
