On receiving information from an unidentified caller that scores of squirrels are being poached at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) Borivali, Mumbai. I, as the Secretary of PAWS-Mumbai and Hony. Animal Welfare Officer of Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) thought it fit to inform the SGNP authorities telephonically about the illegal activity going on there. As no action was taken to prevent the trapping and poaching of squirrels. PAWS-Mumbai volunteer along with the help of the press brought the illegal activities to the notice of the public. I was asked by the SGNP forest staff to meet them on Monday 11th December 2006 when I went there, the officers present accused me of entering the SGNP area illegally and attempted to make a case of tresspassin against me. They also held me responsible for the death of squirrels owing to negligence and pressurised me into signing a false statements. I was shocked and hurt by this behaviour and realised that this was their reaction for my exposing their indifference to the poaching going on at the National Park. In view of this incident I appeal to you to kindly suggest what course of action I should take so that the poaching, fishing, chopping of trees etc. activity is stopped and I do not get victimised for pursuing a cause with noble intentions. Waiting for your urgent reply. With regards, *Sunish Subramanian* Founder & Secretary, PAWS - Mumbai Hony. Animal Welfare Officer (MS 4077) AWBI, Govt. of India *C.C. : * 1. * Dr. R.
