Chronicle of hyderabad

Hyderabad, March 29: A beef stall put up on the campus as part of the

annual youth festival `Sukoon' organised by students of Central

University of Hyderabad has kicked up a row with the BJP accusing

university vice-chancellor Seyed E. Hasnain of encouraging students to

open beef stall. In a statement, BJP official spokesperson N.

Ramchander Rao demanded suspension of Hasnain and sought criminal

cases to be booked against him for encouraging " anti-Hindu activities "

on the campus.

Sukoon will kick off on Friday evening. Mr Hasnain was not available

for comment. However, HCU students union general Secretary Mr

Zikrullah Khan told this correspondent that the union has decided to

put up the stall and there was no involvement of officials or teachers

in it. " A majority of students wanted the beef stall and so it was

decided to put one, " he said.
