Guest guest Posted February 29, 2004 Report Share Posted February 29, 2004 Bavarian-style Zpples and Veggie Dogs 1 Medium onion, cut in wedges 2 Stalks celery, sliced 2 Golden Delicious apples [or something more tart] 1 lb vegetarian wieners (veggiedogs) [Tofu Pups are gluten free; read labels always, as ingredients change] 1/2 c Water, divided 1/4 c Brown sugar 1/4 c Cider vinegar 1 t Caraway seeds 3/4 t Salt 1 T Cornstarch Melt butter or margarine in skillet. Add onion and celery; saute 3 minutes. Core apples and cut into wedges. Slice veggiedogs crosswise in half; score diagonally. Add apples and 'dogs to skillet. Saute for another 5 minutes. Add 1/4 cup water, brown sugar, vinegar, caraway seeds and salt. Cover and simmer gently until apples and vegetables are tender. Dissolve cornstarch in remaining 1/4 cup water.
