Guest guest
This recipe was on the back of a packet of split peas my mother bought. Diana, also in Australia Split Pea & Cumin Soup 1 Tbs oil 1 medium onion (finely chopped) 1 ½ cups yellow split peas (rinsed) 4 cups water 10grams vegetable stock cube 1 large potato (diced) 1 large carrot (diced) 1 cup celery (diced) 1 tsp cumin ½ tsp salt 2 cups water (extra) Heat oil in a large saucepan, add onion, saute until soft. Add yellow split peas, water & stock cube. Cover, simmer in a large saucepan for 40 minutes stirring occassionally, until peas are soft. Add remaining ingredients. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer until vegetables are tender. Serves 6. * A bit of pepper (white or black) added to this makes it even better. I like to use a little more cumin – closer to 2 tsp!
