Guest guest
Oh Bummer, LaDonna! Maybe we need that 25# bag of Clear Jel! LOL! LaDonna <teacups wrote:I have recently been reading information about Emes Kosher Gelatin. It has been sold as a vegan product and used by vegetarians and vegans for a long time. I have been reluctant to say anything about the reports I've been reading until I was more " sure " about their validity, but it appears to be true. Extensive laboratory testing is showing that although the product claims to contain " no meat " and " no dairy " , that the product actually does contain gelatin (as found in beef and pork). This is so unfortunate. . .as many of our favorite " vegan " recipes now need to be re-worked. ~ LaDonna ~ Our vegan and gluten free recipes are available in the archives for this group or at the following URL (***Recipes Posted to VGF***): Check out these affiliated vegan lists ~ http://www.Christian-Vegan-Cooking http://www.VintageVeganTea http://www.VeganFoods4HealthyLiving
Guest guest
Oh FOOEY! I just bought some Emes for the very first time this month! Had a hard time finding it, too, and was so happy that I did! The Benton Sisters use it in a lot of their recipes in their books and videos. Wonder if they're aware of this, although the tapes and books are not really recent, so the Emes question was most likely not known when they put them out. ARGH! They probably are, as they are the type of people who seem to keep up with things fairly well. The Emes question " is " very recent and I think it's interesting to note that the Emes company is still insisting that their product " is " vegan. I guess we haven't heard the end of this story yet, but I tend to give alot of credibility to the food scientists at Loma Linda University. ~ LaDonna ~
