Guest guest
This is something that really does work. I think the mental image of knowing you're doing something ABOUT the problem of excess weight can carry you very far. If you're doing something, there is no reason to feel so bad about it. If you don't feel so bad about it, well there is no reason to overeat... Of course, that's a very basic, simplistic look at it - but, the idea is if you put it out there in front of you like " I AM slimming down " instead of " I wish I were slimmer " the overall journey to the goal will be more pleasant. marierieuwers Tue, 30 Sep 2008 11:36:32 +0000 DRAGON - Re: Upset Dragon and MVM Hi Dragon, I'm so sorry to hear things aren't going too well for you on the weight loss front. It can be so frustrating and disappointing when something like this happens. In your case it must be even more frustrating as there are certain factors you can't control, such as the medication. I received an interesting e-mail from a friend today. It was about affirmation, especially as it relates to weight loss. I'm not sure how you feel about using affirmation as a tool in your weight loss journey but you may find it worth considering at some stage. My friend mentioned she had just finished reading a book which discussed the mechanics of affirmation. To cut a long story short, the idea is to make your affirmation something about the process of achieving your goal, rather than focus on the goal itself. For instance, instead of making your affirmation 'I am slim', you should make it 'I am in the process of becoming slim'. If you visualise yourself as being slim you can then focus on your goal of becoming slim and affirm to yourself 'I am in the process of becoming slim.' This may not be something you would feel comfortable with but I thought I would pass it on anyway. Actually, you could even use the MVM program as a mini-goal and set yourself the challenge of losing sufficient weight to be able to record your weight on their charts. So long as you aren't unrealistic about the length of time this will take I think this could be a great incentive. Have you actually discussed with your doctor the issue of your medication and weight gain? S/he may be able to suggest an alternative medication or dosage. I hope things start working out better for you soon and that your weight starts going in the right direction again. Hugs from Marie
Guest guest
Thanks for all your support folks (sight of a Dragon sniffing away tears of gratitude!) - I think you could be right about the affirmations Marie (I used to do this - I have no idea why I stopped!) Oh Marie - are you still on the look out for a camera (video camera)? Mark has looked out some information for you and I can email it to you off-list if you still want it :-) The Dragon (aka High Priestess Enchanting Evenweave) Current stitching - Map of Durham http://dragonsteel.multiply.com/ http://tempewytch.diaryland.com/ http://dragonstitching.blogspot.com/
