Thanks Mr. Kadyan for your views. However, this type of sensational rumor seems

to have put the worldwide animal welfare community on alert that help is needed

for dogs all over India. And for animal activists the urgent situation to

protect street or community dogs all over India is far from being able to now

relaxed. Before the Bangalore news broke how many dogs were being cruelly

killed away from the eyes of NGO's? And how many are still going in so many

areas that do not have NGO's?

Bangalore has made the headlines but there are so many other areas that have the

same or worse situation that does not.

For our part at Visakha SPCA, teams are going out from midnight to 1 AM to

patrol the streets to capture any ferocious dogs and break up packs. Pradeep

Nath is meeting with the municipalities and commissioner to prevent any problems

with the public wanting dog culls. And we are trying to spread the message for

the public to phone in if they encounter aggressive dogs. As well as educating

the corporators of each ward and doing a weekly mobile ABC camp in wards, the

main VIP areas and slum areas (where garbage and aggressive dogs can be more of

a problem).

India NGO's have to go in two directions right now: trying to protect our

community dogs in our own areas, as well as joining into any national all India

campaign to protect street dogs everywhere. VSPCA looks forward to joining into

any national campaigns. But money is needed for local and national public

awareness campaigns and a vigorous ABC program. kind regards,

This is not true that Govt. is going to kill dogs in Delhi due to common

wealth games, for what purpose we are here in Delhi, relax please.

Save Indian Dogs from Mass slaughter for Commonwealth games in

New Delhi

" .Also, since New Delhi is the venue for The Commonwealth Games in

2010, the government plans to kill all the stray dogs here too. "

Does anyone actually have any evidence of this?

This is a rumor that apparently first surfaced on several

European animal rights mailing lists, and reached India from there.

Maneka Gandhi so far has not mentioned it. Friendicoes SECA

so far has not mentioned it. I am not aware of any Delhi activist or

Delhi-based news reporter so far who has mentioned it.

If there is evidence, let's see it.

Otherwise, the Bangalore situation is bad enough without

having to invent a crisis in Delhi.

I am getting the impression that some of the animal advocacy

community need to be retold the story of the boy who cried wolf,

changing the word " wolf " to the phrase " dog massacre. "

If you ring in false alarms to mass media, who find out that

they are wasting their time checking out things that are not

happening, you will soon find yourselves being completely ignored

when you most urgently need help.

One false alarm is usually enough to finish your credibility

in a newsroom. You won't be called, won't be quoted, and your

future alerts may not even be looked at, because you gained a

reputation for sending out alerts without verifying the content.
