Guest guest
I am very impressed with the ideas and answers about protein. I think we all learned a lot from those who gave answers to my question. I especially liked the idea of making flatbreads and then using them as multi use foods. Cutting food costs: I believe with care, this can be done. One thing is planning; no one can commit to any healthy life style without it. If I buy a bunch of produce, I have to make a plan. I still have just a bit of baby spinach, which will go into a soup, but in the past I might have dumped it, which means I dumped nutrition and money! I freeze fresh herbs when I see they will not immediately be used. My pantry will keep us going for quite a while and this is one way to save. Food needs to be used, not tossed, due to freshness being sacrificed if kept too long, passing the use by dates. Because we spend about 4 months in Oregon for the summer, we have to plan to use food up. If not, I have to pack, and drag it on our trip. The van capacity doesn't do well with a huge tote of food! Much better to follow a plan and eat it here in AZ! Do you have tips for " planning? " Erin, your cherry hummus looked delicious. I really like beans and the fresh OR cherries will be ready for us this summer! Thanks Everyone! Barb K. AZ/OR
