Guest guest
Hi, After all this excellent chat about techniques used to curb hunger, increase calorie burn and generally lose weight to improve health, I am wondering of this current crop of posting members (and others, of course) which weight-loss books/regimes you find it best to follow. I'm assuming here, of course, that in any regime you will be choosing you will be following a low-fat vegetarian version. Any faves? Reasons why? And if not following one in particular at present, why not? What books of this nature do you have on your shelves or have borrowed? I thought this might be useful for newbies or for long-term members who are bored of or disillusioned by their current system. My thoughts: I think Dr Fuhrman's plan is great, although it's well-nigh impossible for me to chew my way through all those raw veggies (the jaws ACHE!) so I cheat on that, and I tend to use some condiments he wouldn't quite approve. That said, Dr McDougall's regime seems to be best suited to me. For 'motivational' books I think _Skinny Bitch_ does it just fine, although I think they're a bit heavier on the fats/oils than I like to be. Anyone got any other suggestions for me and for others here? Love, Pat

This is the actual diet book (that has recipes in it) but she normally does a recipe book as well - mainly based around m*at BUT she recommends Quorn and Tofu as good low fat alternatives The Dragon (aka High Priestess Enchanting Even weave) Current stitching - RSPCA Perfect Pets, Map of Durham, Cat Ornaments, Green Man http://tempewytch.blogspot.com/ - stitching/house http://tempewytchdiet.blogspot.com/ - diet/angst --- On Mon, 11/5/09, drpatsant <drpatsant wrote: drpatsant <drpatsant Diet Books? Guest guest
Dragon recommended: > http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hip-Thigh-Diet-Rosemary-Conley/dp/0099517779/ref=sr_1_1?\ ie=UTF8 & s=books & qid=1242049868 & sr=8-1 I haven't seen that one - it's not in our library either but is of course available on amazon.com _and_ amazon.ca Shall try our local secondhand bookstores for it first. Good that she recommends quorn and tofu as the me*t alternatives - much healthier, by golly!!! Hugs, Pat

It is about a whole fire house that went no-added-fat-veggie. I thought that was a great book full of information and inspiration. It is a great book for guys to read and learn that " Real men eat veggies " . There are recipies too and a web site. It was on the best books list at the store and I hope this book will help bring healthful eating into the mainstream. I would give it five stars. Guest guest
Sounds great! My library has it, so I've put it on hold. Guest guest
I've read so many books over the years and they all help, if I follow the protocol. I'm at a stage where I can't seem to absorb any more from books. I'm on overload but am doing OK. I seem to have managed to lose a pound this week just by cutting out cheddar cheese. I didn't think I could do that but I just don't have any in the house so I'm not reaching for it. I have some skim milk cheese that isn't nearly as tasty and I think it will not reappear any time soon. I would rather have no cheese than tasteless cheese. I'm going to make 'colby' cheese from the Uncheese Cookbook. I know I like that one and it's healthy. The sunny days help keep me motivated and doing things. Guest guest
> the Engine 2 Diet . . . Now I have heard of this one - most impressive - or maybe it was a TV thingie on these guys. Whatever, it is a great change for them all and something to remember for our own men, right? Love, Pat
