Guest guest
Organic produce can be more expensive than conventional produce, and buying all organic just isn't possible with some budgets. So when you've got to be choosy about what produce you do and don't buy organic, check out this pocket guide put out by the Environmental Working Group to help you rest easy about the pesticide factor in your purchases: Most Contaminated Fruit Most Contaminated Vegetables Apples Bell Peppers Cherries Celery Imported Grapes Potatoes Nectarines Spinach Peaches Pears Red Raspberries Strawberries Least Contaminated Fruit Least Contaminated Vegetables Bananas Asparagus Kiwi Avocado Papaya Broccoli Pineapple Cauliflower Mango Sweet Corn Onion Sweet Peas
Guest guest
I don't believe for a minute that corn is the least contaminated! My friend with chem sensitivities can't drive past a corn field without having a reaction! And the cancer rates for people who live near conventional cornfields? I think it's high, but I don't have numbers. I guess it made the list because the corn is covered in a decent husk, as is the avocado (covered, I mean). Thanks for posting this. Very interesting. I often buy foods just this way, wondering what I can get away with because it has a thicker rind, or whatever. Jo
