Guest guest
Lena--When you go shopping, do you buy the things your child asks for, or do you explain why certain other things might be healthier choices? I know I have found my own kids very receptive to what I tell them about the " foods " they see their peers eating, or that they see advertised on TV. But it's also important that our kids' lunches, when away from home, look REASONABLY similar to what the other kids are eating, so that they are not made to feel different or weird. As to GF/sugar free snacks, how about raw veggies and dips such as hummus or nut butter? There's always popcorn, Fritos, tortilla chips, cut up fresh fruits, or the GF breadsticks from Glutano (pizza or sesame flavored--YUM!--available from Miss Roben's). Not sure if those breadsticks are totally SF, but they are delicious! You can make sugar free jello at home, using all natural fruit juices, and send it in a disposable plastic container. Same with cookies--many can be made GF and SF, using stevia, GF rice syrup, vegetable glycerin, or a similar sweetner. How about unsweetened apple sauce with a SF cookie wafer for " dipping " ? Just some ideas. Marilyn
Guest guest
Thanks! Marilyn, I try to be very straight with my child when go shopping, but sometime I will buy some GF snack for him, but that normally have some fructose, he will have itch and red face when he have sugar. He don't like raw veggies & dip. I always make popcorn for him. Sometime give him some chip. I also bake sweet potato for him, isn't ok to have sweet potato everyday? What is a Fritos? Any recipes for that? Sorry, I am really a very new cook! I am in australia, so far having see any breadstick yet. I have a recipes for breadstick, but as I always have stomach pain recently, a bit weak & hardly try to make anythg for him. sahmomof8 wrote:Lena--When you go shopping, do you buy the things your child asks for, or do you explain why certain other things might be healthier choices?
