Guest guest
I thought it was impossible to use somebody's else e-mail like that. But what I did hear was that sometimes individuals create usernames/email adresses very simmilar to legitatment ones.( i.e. only with one letter/character different) There is only minor differences. One of the message boards I am on was attacked like that a while ago. As a gmail user (or even mail user) you should know how absolutely trivial it is to pretend to be a different e-mail address. I own the gorlitz.ca domain, but it doesn't run a mail server. Most of my personal messages appear to come from that domain however. Epicurous.dom makes it even more trivial. I went to the site's front page and searched for a tofu recipe. I found the most pupular is TOFU- AND WALNUT-STUFFED MUSHROOMS http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/recipe_views/views/230149 At the top of this recipe is an E-MAIL TO FRIEND button. I click that and get http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/recipe_views/email/230149 On this page I am on an honour system as it asks for Recipient's name 1 Recipient's email 1 Your name Your e-mail address One only has to fill out the group's e-mail address Recipient's email field and a valid e-mail address from a group member in the Your e-mail address field then hit send. The angry, childish person likely hit the back button after they sent it and sent it again and again--if they didn't you could add stupid to the list of adjectives desribing them. Instant untraceable SPAM. > But what I did hear was that sometimes individuals create > usernames/email adresses very simmilar to legitatment ones.( i.e. > only with one letter/character different) There is only minor > differences. Guest guest
For what it's worth, I've used the Epicurious online form to suggest they tighten down their system by preventing people from sending email unless they are a validated registered user. also let them know that a person of unknown name was sending meat based recipes to a veg recipe mailing list. Won't make a difference. But hey, it's worth a shot.
