Hi PT:

Yes they are about the same age. My daughter and I have a great time together.

She has never taken a sewing class, one of these days she should. This year she

and her friend are the costume and make-up crew head for the school shows.

She likes to take her shirts and cut them and change them. She also adds things

to them.

My daughter is also edgy-punk-goth. She used to have multi colored hair which I

did for her.

It really is a shame that these classes are not manditory in both middle and

high school. My son will hopefully be going to college in February and he

doesn't cook he can heat and reheat. He can however do his own laundry.

Sorry I am rambling again.

Have a marvalouse monday

Our girls are about the same age. My daughter is my

best friend. She is a fashion-deva, too!

Of course he sense of style is more edgy-punk-goth-

i don't know what... but very cute and creative! :)

i agree with you completely about the sewing, cooking,

and automotive repair all teens should have! She took

a private sewing class last year so now she designs and

alters all her own clothes. She loves cooking and baking

which is awesome. Now we just have to get her interested

in car repair! *lol*

You are doing a great thing teaching and encouraging

your daughter. Cooking with our children is a gift that

stays with them forever and everyone is blessed by it. :)

*G* I couldn't help but to smile when reading your

emails. My Parents made sure that we all knew how to

cook, do laundry, do minor work on the cars, and do

our taxes. I took Home Ec, Typing and Shop while in

High School, and was the only girl in the Shop class,

with some awesome male friends and skills. I am trying

to make sure that my kids grow up with the same skills

for life. I think that it provides a wonderful

knowledge base for them to build upon!

HI Misty:

I remember my father taking us outside and making us change a tire... Probably

the last time I did as he thought we should know how. I am also the one in my

family know that checks and adds the oil in my car. I don't change the oil

however. I also check to make sure the radiator fluid is full.

Both my son and daughter know how to do laundry and have been doing so for

several years now. Although very often a load of laundry for my son is a pair

of sock, pants and the shirt he wants to wear tomorrow. I taught my son to do

laundry when he was in 6th grade as that was the year I went back to work. He

then taught my daughter to do laundry as he was going out and didn't have time

to finish the laundry. She was in 4th grade.
