Guest guest
Hi Linda. i also have trouble at times with beans and lentils. i know i have very hard minerally water.... bet that is the reason. i will try the bottled water advice for lentils next time. With beans i don't have as much trouble if i do the no-soak boil three times method before adding any salt or seasoning. Here is what works for me: 1. Rinse and sort beans. Place in a stock pot and cover with water. 2. Bring to a boil. Let cook on rolling boil for 10 full minutes. Turn off burner and cover pot. Time them for 1 hour. 3. drain, rinse, repeat 2 more times. Then add salt or add to whatever recipe making. [i have had no troubles with gas either since i started cooking beans this way.] Also some folks on our list swear by their pressure-cookers for quick effective cooking of beans. ~ pt ~ Circe is indeed the goddess who lured sailors to her island and then turned them into swine. However, she did finally relent and give them directions to get home. No doubt this was the genesis of men being afraid to stop for directions. ~ Lauren Collins ~~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~> , " Linda C " <muggle311@n...> wrote: > > Shelly > that cookbook is awesome I own that one.
