Guest guest
Hi again Usually, I use both sides. There is nothing in the instruction booklet to suggest that there will be a problem but it seems to be a waste of energy to heat up a hole! The consequence is that I made two similar dishes such as a hot 'adult' chili on one side and a 'not so hot' chili on the other...or more usually a large casserole split up. This is of course a large family sized appliance. I do not need that so much now so I have been experimenting. I have tried it twice now with a full cassrole on one side with a 'Cobbler' on the other. It is amazing that I can do that. Of course it is a rare occasion as I am not a great sweet eater. I have had great success with doing a full dish on one side and make a vegetable stock in the smaller section. I then drain and freeze that once cooled down for later in the week. It is a joy but quite a lot of advance preparation. I made a little hat for it out of aluminium foil to help preserve the heat as it is a glass top. There are quite a few recipes around though those for pure vegetarian dishes are not so common. It is very big and heavy Best wishes Chris Shelly <anislandgirl wrote: Wow! Isn't that an interesting appliance?! Do you often use both sides or just one? Guest guest
Hi Chris Looks a good slow cooker although probably too big for me. A book that I have found helpful for crockpot cooking is Vegetarian Recipes for Your Slo-Cooker by Annette Yates. I have to halve the amounts for my two-portion slow cooker. The thick Tuscan Bean Soup is particulaly good. Christie
Guest guest
I was looking for the model online that Chris has out of curiosity and came along two interesting looking slow cookers. " Two-in-one cooker has a slow cooking stoneware pot on one side. Second aluminum pot quickly cooks complementary side dishes. Use the removable stoneware pot for serving to save on cleanup. Metal, 8 x 8 3/4 x 19 1/2 " , dual cooking controls and UL listed 36 " cord. Chris, I don't know if you will be able to find it in the UK, but my favorite slow-cooker cook book is " Fresh from the Vegetarian Slow COoker " by Robin Robertson. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll post some recipes... Amy
