Guest guest
Hi Sherry. That is a really good low-fat version of the typical green bean casserole. i think i will try this one for our Yule dinner; i really like the idea to add nuts and some chow mein noodles on top. Thanks. Do any of the rest of us have other add-ins and different spins on the classic green bean casserole recipe? i like to add tamari, Bragg's liquid aminos, or soy sauce to mine; oh, and gahlick, too. i was thinking some chopped water chestnuts might be nice, too. ~ pt ~ So dull and dark are the November days. The lazy mist high up the evening curled, And now the morn quite hides in smoke and haze; The place we occupy seems all the world. ~ John Clare, November ~~~*~~~*~~~> , Sherry Rose <sherry@c...> wrote: > > Here's my lowfat version of " that " green bean recipe we all were raised > with. I just thinly slice some onions, sprinkle some flour and seasoned salt over them, toss to break up slices and evenly coat, then fry until crispy and golden in some olive or canola oil. Yum! I have to make double what I'll need because the smell of frying onions brings everyone in the house running for a sample!! I made the casserole one year with pepper jack cheese and Frank's Red Hot and it was a HUGE hit! This year we're going vegan so I'm not sure what we'll do in the cheese department...
