Guest guest
Do you mean Tee Time, as in the golf tongue in cheek name cafe, or is it some other place? i also like to browse the antique shops. The " first friday " nights are always fun, too. GP is a cute town i think.... the people are warm and friendly for the most part. It sure is growing fast though. A lot has changed since we moved out here [from NY] in 1997. We have a new healthfood store that just opened Nov. 6th. It is in a new stripmall area by Si Casa Flores off the parkway... called Gooseberries. Some family from California that moved up to make a store similar to a Trader Joes; that is their intention from what i heard thru the grapevine. It has a lot of growing to do to achieve Trader Joe quality, IMO... but i really hope thay can make a go of it here. We need more places like that especially since our two Market of Choice stores all turned into Ray's. ugh... ~ pt ~ We give thanks for bounty, health and happiness. We take joy in each other on this day; For our family we give thanks For this harvest we thank the wealth of nature and the one who from the beginning of time Loved all creation. ~ Thanksgiving Prayer, Alexandra ~~~*~~~*~~~> , " Samantha Lea " <saml@a...> wrote: > > I love Grants Pass. They still have pretty much all of the wonderful M of C vegetarian and vegan things (so far), but they no longer take other stores' coupons -- bummer! At least they're still paying a nickel per paper bag the customer brings in to reload groceries. I'm only 25 or so miles from the Markets of Choice in Eugene, which I go to every week or two to visit my mother, so I still get a shot of those nice grocery stores -- also TJ's, several good natural food stores, a Latin market, two Chinese markets, a Vietnamese market, and Cash & Carry. So I don't feel terribly deprived, just weary of driving so much. Sherry

I do like Grants Pass. Eugene too. Guest guest
Ashland is another shining example of what Oregon has to offer. The Shakespearean Festival there has certainly attracted the attention of people throughout the nation too. Wondering if there are any non-Oregonians on the list? They must be drooling about now and they haven't even seen our coast line, the most beautiful in the states bar now (not even New England's coast). <grinning, ducking, running, hiding> linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it. Been busy lately, so haven't chimed in for awhile, but I still scan the posts. Ashland has been sunny. Today I had most of my layers off from late morning to after sundown a bit, though it gets cold fairly fast once that sun goes down. The other day we had a warm wind for the full moon. Rain and snow coming soon, though, according to the forecasts... , " ~ PT ~ " <patchouli_troll> wrote: > > Hi Samantha. i live down here in " sunny " Grants Pass. > We still have that banner sign over 6th street downtown > that reads: Its The Climate!. *lol* > Well, we are going on our second week of socked-in fog. > Does put me in the holiday mood though; been playing > xmas music, making my list, checking it twice... > > ~ pt ~ > > Give me the end of the year an' its fun > When most of the plannin' an' toilin' is done; > Bring all the wanderers home to the nest, > Let me sit down with the ones I love best, > Hear the old voices still ringin' with song, > See the old faces unblemished by wrong, > See the old table with all of its chairs > An' I'll put soul in my Thanksgivin' prayers. > ~ Edgar A. On the first friday of every month the downtown merchants stay open later, some hire live entertainment, serve cookies and punch etc. Just a fun festive feel everywhere you go; very family friendly and leaves one with a pleasant feeling of community. ~ pt ~ From quiet homes and first beginning, Out to the undiscovered ends, There's nothing worth the wear of winning, But laughter and the love of friends. ~ Hillaire Belloc
