Guest guest
I would agree with you that these comic books are absolutely horrendous and should never be put out...however, I think, and I have to check it out directly with PETA (they are closed now) to see if these two comic books exist and just who is distributing them. I have searched their site and can't find anything remotely like these. There is a site with " Fishing Hurts " a very gentle site. I think that the sites you sent are bogus sites put out by someone attempting to sabotage PETA, but I sure don't know that absolutely. I will call them first thing in morning. You might want to go to the PETA site and wander around. This is the link for the fishing hurts leaflet, nothing like what you have found... http://petaliterature.com/prodinfo.asp?number=VEG303 & variation= & aitem=1 & mitem=8 You know what, I am going to go out on that proverbial limb and say categorically that what you have ended up linking to below is a terrible site having nothing to do with PETA and if it turns out that PETA has indeed published something like this comic book they will not only hear from me, but I will make sure that I withdraw from it period. That is how sure I am that they are not putting these two leaflets out. Go to the PETA site itself, wander around in it, look at all of the children's literature and you will find nothing like the two below. linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it. Ok, It sounds like you haven't seen the comic book first hand as well, so I share the opinion that you need to see it yourself first hand before sharing what you think it displays or does not display. I prefaced that I hadn't seen it first hand and that part of my point was that if the booklet, images and text were biased in how it was portrayed by the media, then in part, that may have resulted from the PETA's history and tactics. I am sure that is what the general point was by PETA, however the original topic that I brought up here was on how it should be portrayed. That was the point of the discussion. They showed a couple of pictures and one was a distorted and dark horror looking comic book like animation of a man (your father, your mother) ripping the guts out of a fish. Ok here we go - I've done some of the homework for us... http://www.fishinghurts.com/feat-newcomic.asp http://www.furisdead.com/feat-momfur.asp I am providing these links for the animations that I am talking about, and for anyone who may find the links interesting for themselves. Guest guest
Hi Linda... I've only taken a few seconds with this. Maybe I'll search a bit more later. I went to the PETA site and searched the terms fishing and hurts (I also did a separate search for Your daddy kills animals). Here is the link that lists the results and particular fishinghurts site from PETA of which I supplied down below. http://www.petasearch.org/texis/search?dropXSL= & pr=defau lt & prox=page & rorder=500 & rprox=500 & rdfreq=500 & rwfreq=500 & rlead=500 & sufs=0 & query=fishing+h urts & submit=Go If that link is too long and doesn't work, try... http://tinyurl.com/create.php Also if you plan on writing PETA, let them know that their website is linked to ... http://www.fishinghurts.com/feat-newcomic.asp at the bottom right hand corner of the website (it's the same looking ..gif they use at their own site). Ok, same with the other that I provided (linked at the bottom with address)... http://www.furisdead.com/feat-momfur.asp The link at the bottom is to http://www.peta.org/ - is that the correct PETA link? Don't know if they are direct partners, subsidiaries or as you state a con. Maybe PETA is trying to keep a certain image at its main site. I have no clue. Maybe I'll look more later. Guest guest
I am going to try and get this right THIS TIME. My patience sucks this evening. http://www.petasearch.org/texis/search?dropXSL= & pr=default & prox=page & rorder=500 & \ rprox=500 & rdfreq=500 & rwfreq=500 & rlead=500 & sufs=0 & query=your+daddy+kills+animals & \ submit=Go and http://tinyurl.com/7mc2q are the links from the peta.org site to the fishinghurts results which include the comic page. Just go to their seach area and insert daddy kills animals. The first two results go to the site that displays the comic and the comic .pdf itself. Also here is the link to the comic cover and insert which seem to be all it is - no comic " book " but more of an insert.. http://www.fishinghurts.com/pdfs/DaddyKillsAnimals.pdf On 11/22/05, subprong wrote:
Guest guest
I also just realized that the link I just sent to you that states they will not be giving it out to anyone under 13 contradicts this page: http://www.fishinghurts.com/feat-newcomic.asp where they state that " children will read. " linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it.
