Finally at age 15 i heard something about vegetarianism from my boyfriend's sister. She claimed she was a vegetarian, but she still ate chicken and fish. i was pretty naive and confused, but thought i could do that, and my parents were fine with it. In college, at age 19, i had a friend who corrected me on my form of " vegetarianism " . He gave me a book to read called 'Diet For a Small Planet'. From that point on i ate mostly vegetarian, but was still pretty lazy about cooking. i'd say i was a flexitarian who was in the learning phase. i read a lot of cookbooks, but didn't experiment until i was in my mid-20s and living in Hawaii. Basically the " why " for me for choosing vegetarianism was taste. Later it evolved into more of a social-ecological awareness. i have always just felt better being a vegetarian, physically and emotionally. ~ pt ~ If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is, infinite.Ê For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thru' narrow chinks of his cavern. ~ William Blake
