Guest guest
Veggie burgers can be made with several different kinds of ingredients. The sticky component can be eggs, or it can be vegan using something like cooked, mashed beans. Falafels are made using mashed garbanzo bean [chick peas], wheat germ, and tahini [sesame paste; other nut butters can be used]. Well cooked lentils can be the stick part, as can cooked and cooled oatmeal. The dry part can be TVP that has been soaked for 10 minutes or so; nuts; uncooked oats; wheat germ; chopped veggies; cooked whole beans [black beans are good] Flavoring can be from soy sauce, yeast extract [vegemite, vegex, sovex, marmite], soy bbq sauce [Dale's or Moore's are good]; liquid smoke flavoring; bbq sauce; or various spices [cajun, indian, mexican]. You can form it into patties and pan fry it in a tiny bit of oil, or you can crumble up the mix and stir-fry it to make burger crumbles for tacos or chili or spaghetti. You can add ketchup and spices, then bake the mix in a pan to make veggie 'meat' loaf. Dusty said: " I tried to make a turkey flavored TVP burger with poulty season it tasted good but it fell apart. I used egg whites to help but it was not enough. Does anyone use TVP to make burgers? What do you use to hole it together? Plus is there any other seasons that I can use in the TVP. " .... Be kind.
