Guest guest
I just finished speaking finally with PETA over the fishing and fur ads that both you and I objected to and they have agreed to go into the original site where it says, " Children will read:...... and change that to either " Children 13 and older will read:....or " Teenagers will read:...... They have explained on their hot topic site that this leaflet would only be passed out to children 13 and older. I, of course, explained to them that is not what the original site says. Went round and round over that one until I got to the main person in charge. They have received lots of feedback from teens that have gotten kind of a kick out of the leaflet and gotten the point and have thought about how there really is no difference in hooking and slaughtering a fish as opposed to a cat or dog. Kind of like what ~PT~ said was her son's reaction to the leaflet too. My problem was with a younger child seeing this ad and the impact on them. I have spent time with the person that developed the campaign and we have come up with a most agreeable solution to both of us. It took a bit to come to understand just exactly where we both stood and find common ground. Once we understood each other we moved right into a solution. I got what I wanted and she got what she wanted and I am pleased with the outcome and PETA has restored themselves in my eyes. I just knew that there was a problem with how it all was being promoted or interpreted. I was very surprised that they agreed with me that the leaflet was not appropriate to small children and had never meant for it to be distributed to children under 13. We agreed that the original site where you can see the leaflets needed to be clarified since the campaign was having a negative impact where it appeared parents were being demonized and aimed at small children due to the language used in the leaflet. I hope that this is better for you too. I am so glad though that you brought this to my attention. You can also go to the PETA literature site for children and see that the lit for them is very soft, gentle, and educational which was why I couldn't believe what you had told me. You won't find these bloody leaflets there. linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it. Guest guest
i agree with Angela. You did a good thing and should pat yourself on the back, linda. PETA should hire you as a PR consultant! ~ pt ~ When a work lifts your spirits and inspires bold and noble thoughts in you, do not look for any other standard to judge it by: the work is good, the product of a master craftsman. ~ Jean De La Bruyere, " Les Caractres " ~~~*~~~*~~~> , Angela <angelaamy2001> wrote: > > Congratulations Linda ! > this is so great on so many levels, one person can make a difference. > thank you for taking the time and effort+ for caring enough to do so. Guest guest
Well, this is interesting. I know for sure now that I am not getting all of the mail and often are lost. My post to Shawn never showed up in my mail box, but it obviously did in yours. Thank you so much for the strokes. I feel so good to be part of a group that shares the same values and acts on them. linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it.
