Guest guest
Linda, Whoa, that FBI situation sounded insane! I didn't live here at the time, so I asked my co-worker and she remembered the whole thing. Luckily the south end of the island is very liberal, the north end is not my cup of tea, so I don't go up there much. Tourists come in droves to Langley, it is a cute town, but honestly I'm not sure what they do all day but shop. There is a very fancy hotel and spa that seems to always be full. There are some cool festivals during the year, the Django festival just happened and it was a sell out here. For me living here is about the land, walking in the woods, gardening, walking on the beach and going to our local theatre. I don't go to the mainland to much, the ferry has gotten expensive, but yup when we do, we shop at the PCC(a whole foods type place in Seattle) and go to an amazing Vietnamees grocery store with all sorts of yummies..tofu, spices, sauces, veggies, coconut milk, etc......I love just walking the store asiles and buying fun looking packages. I know I'll be in Eugene again, I'll be sure to check out the veggie options. Sounds like a great place to live. I know my hubby is going to check into work at the University there. Well have a great weekend, it's snowing here on Whidbey!! -Cheers, Heidi
Guest guest
It's snowing on Whidbey! Oh my! It snowed one year there that shut the entire island down for a week...I think around 1988/89...it snowed the year or so prior to my moving, seven years ago. I loved it. The south end is quainter and so is Coupeville...have you been to the Coupevilled arts fair in the summer...I am sure you have. In case we loose touch the place to go for dinner or lunch is called the Lotus Garden, totally vegan. $5.95 for lunch, $7.95 for dinner and weekends. The not chicken nuggets, sweet and sour are excellent, and so is a dish called the Lotus (I think there is another word attached to that, but it is the only thing on the menu with the word Lotus in it) Good store to go to are the Sundance, Kiva, Market of Choice and we are getting a Whole Foods store in too in 2007...Sherry speak up and add to this list. What area at the U of O is your husband going to be looking into? Enjoy the snow...I am drooling. linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it.
