i have tears in my eyes over this right now.

Positive thoughts, healing, and prayers coming

your way. Hang in there, hon. She knows you love

her, she loves you, and you are both blessed by that

beyond measure.

well, she's at the vet's now. i took her there this afternoon; she was just

absolutely listless and couldn't support herself on her back legs. the vet

said she's extremely dehydrated to the point that she might be going into

organ failure. i had felt a lump on her side and was afraid it was cancer.

no,

but it was her kidney-- that's how thin she's gotten. she's staying at the

vet's till at least monday and is getting a lot of fluids put in her

intravenously. the vet has been awesome-- he's totally with me on her diet and

even

asked me to bring it in so that he could feed it to her instead of the science

diet crap they have there. i also told him that after the $5000+ i've spent

on vet bills this year, i'm pretty much tapped out, and i asked if i could

trade training sessions, and he agreed. i'm so glad he's being so great. it

just shows that he really does care about the animals.

i can't visit her tomorrow because they're closed on sundays, so i won't get

to see her till monday. keep your fingers crossed for my joanie.

Fingers and paws all crossed here for darling joanie and her wonderful mom. It's

so hard

for you, but you have a great vet there and she's in good hands - as good as

they can be

without being your own (and right now she needs this expert care). Hold on tight

- you'll

see her soon. Big hugs to you and cyber scritchies for your furbaby.

My thoughts and love, Pat (and her furbabies)

after a very rough and valiant struggle with feline ibd and kidney

disease, joanie died this morning at the vet's office.

i adopted joanie and chachi in 2000 from the anti-cruelty society in

chicago, illinois. i didn't even want cats, but joanie licked me, and

that pretty much sold me on them.

she loved to be held upside-down, like a baby, and was known for her

non-stop licking and her loud purr.

she was my baby, and her loss is huge in my life.

RIP joanie schoenfeld, 1993-2005

I was so sorry to hear your news of Joanie. Do not underestimate the

loss, sometimes I think we can be even closer to our animal companions

than to other humans.

These are the important memories that will stay with you. I lost my

beloved Ziggy in April 1998 and the green of the leaves coming out on

the trees in the park that I carried her through on the way to the vet

was the same as the colour of her eyes as she died and so Spring and

the emerging foliage is always a particularly poignant time for me,

although she is always in my heart.

{{{hugs)))

I am deeply sorrowed to hear of your loss. I stopped posting here around

mid-October when we lost one of our boys (Iggy Plop, 1997-2005), having decided

to spend less time online and more with our five remaining loved ones (all the

same family — MomCat and her (now adult) babies, who were born in our home).

I've been following your story though, and wanted to respond yesterday but we

had to take our beloved Charles (number one son) to the vet and are having to

give him subcutaneous fluids. It seems he has liver disease — possibly cancer.

If we can't get him to eat withing three days or so, he'll be gone too.

My condolences on your loss. I can only offer my sympathy and empathy.

Nancy

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. She sounds like quite the cat--I

love it when cats let you hold them upside-down and rub their bellies.
