Guest guest
You are a lucky man! i still can't find that stuff around here and i am wanting to try it. *lol* Now last year i remember seeing some in Wal*Mart of all places, but i didn't buy it right away and then when i did return to get some it was gone. Ya snooze, ya lose... true in this case. Now back when i was a teen my Grams would buy cartons of egg nog, and they were thick and very sweet. i liked it, but always " watered " it down with skim milk. i can't even comprehend doing that now since i don't drink cow milk anymore. i do want to try the soy nog though, and will likely water that down with plain almond milk as well to get the correct texture i prefer. For toppings... cinnamon and nutmeg are standard; both compliment the flavor of nog very well, as does a shot of rum. ~ pt ~ Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. I've heard so many people mention it here the last year or so (and > regular Silk for several years here now).

Ya snooze, ya lose... true in this case. Sorry, you missed out on it back then, PT. This is exactly what happened to me last year. And even though a quart of this stuff was $3 (and I normally would have passed on it until it was cheaper) I bought it knowing I'd miss out on it like last year. Speaking of, I'm very impressed with my local store. My area of town doesn't know what vegetarian products are, however this particular store has increased the amount of products in that section. They have added several of the different types of Silk flavors recently (the less fat version, nog obviously, the organic variety and another which just flew out of my memory). The me@t analogs have increased and they've even added " organic " cow's milk (red carton but I've forgotten the brand name). Now back when i was a teen my Grams would > buy cartons of egg nog, and they were thick and > very sweet. This is thick, fairly sweet and yellowish (I guess for the egg color). i liked it, but always " watered " it down > with skim milk. i can't even comprehend doing that > now since i don't drink cow milk anymore. i do want > to try the soy nog though, and will likely water that > down with plain almond milk as well to get the > correct texture i prefer. It is definitely thick and one of the reasons I thought I wouldn't like it. I got over it because I don't drink that much at a time, however watering it down with almond milk or even some regular soy milk would probably do the trick (keeping in mind the sweetness will cut as well). For toppings... cinnamon and nutmeg are standard; > both compliment the flavor of nog very well, as does > a shot of rum. I am going to try the nutmeg and cinnamon for sure. I mentioned that I thought this would be good for other uses as well. Use it as a light cream poured over pie or something. Thought, also, you being a coffee aficionado that it might work well as a fancy creamer. Give that java a seasonal type of flavor. Guest guest
Most stores have it here in Ashland, even the Albertson's, but it can disappear suddenly, from past experience. I suppose there are people who hoard it. So hurry.... , " ~ PT ~ " <patchouli_troll> wrote: > > You are a lucky man! i still can't find that stuff > around here and i am wanting to try it. *lol* > Now last year i remember seeing some in > Wal*Mart of all places, but i didn't buy it right > away and then when i did return to get some it > was gone. Guest guest
silk nog is so popular, it does go fast. buy it when you see it because chances are you won't find it again. i've seen more of it this year tho. the first couple of years it was out, white wave had a hard time meeting demand for silk nog. looks like they are doing much better now. i read somewhere that westsoy is now also producing a soy nog. i haven't seen it yet. --- Tom <antipreophogistiii wrote: > Most stores have it here in Ashland, even the > Albertson's, but it > can disappear suddenly, from past experience. I would try it straight first - this stuff is a little thicker than soymilk, but not much, and definitely not as thick as eggnog.
Guest guest
Good odds that Freddy's has it - unless they've sold out already.... , " ~ PT ~ " <patchouli_troll> wrote: > > i love that coffee creamer idea!
