Guest guest
I ask if there are any animal by-products and of course they are not sure what that means...I ask them to tell me what the ingredients are in the natural flavorings or mention a couple to see if that is in it. Some are really cooperative and some not. Sometimes they are able to get me the information. PETA has a site that lists a slew of common and popular products that are vegan, but most not particularly healthy (Fritos comes to mind...I love them, even if they are GMO). Maybe I will try doing a list and saying that I am allergic to certain ingredients and that most are made from animal by-products. Sometimes too I say it is for religious reasons and they get that. But much of the time they just plain don't know. It has got to be scary though for you to be allergic to certain things and have to rely on them to accurately tell you. At least it won't kill me to have something in a food I would not eat knowingly. linda " Whatever you do will be insignificant and it is very important that you do it. " Mohandas Gandhi linda's Growing Stitchery Projects: womyn47 - Meg i have some food allergies and more than once I've had to call companies and just run down a list of spices and ask them to say " possibly " or something similar when I asked what incredients were in the " spices " . They wouldn't give me the info stright out since it's considered proprietary, but when I explained I had a food allergy that could send me to the ER or a grave they were somewhat more understanding and would say yes or no to a list I read them, they just wouldn't volunteer the info right out.
