Last night i finally found a small carton of Silk brand

soy nog to try. i found it at Safeway of all places.

i wasn't even looking for it per say. i happened by the

dairy case with a bunch of egg nogs and i thought

about Silk brand but didn't see any there. i turned

around and in the next case where they had all the

soy milks i found it way down on the bottom shelf.

It was $2.50 for a one quart carton.

The good news is, i love it. The bad news is, so does

everyone else in my house! *lol* It won't last very long

around here. :)

That's why it provokes hoarding and so quickly runs out. I just

happened to look to see if it was still in stock at the Market of

Choice here in Ashland this morning, but no, it's totally out again....

When you taste it and also compare it to the nutritional

info on the side of a carton of regular commercial eggnog,

the comparison is amazing! It truly tastes divine and sinful,

but it has only 90 calories per 1/2 cup serving; regular

eggnog has 210 calories per 1/2 cup serving, and 65mg

cholesterol ~ silk nog has zero!

But Silk nog is $2.50 per quart, and the other is 99¢...

so it does cost more to be healthy in this regard. But i think

for a wee treat it is worth it. :)

Yes, that's spendy. Here's one of my inventions that's less spendy in the long

run:Banana Almond Nog

Buy bananas when they are on sale, and when they are fully ripe, " banana-slug

bananas, " peel them, put them in plastic bags and freeze them for use at your

leisure. They're great in baking, as replacements for sugar or honey to sweeten

foods, and blended in a variety of drinks, such as this one:

8 to 10 frozen bananas

8 ounces of raw almond butter

Cold drinking water

Nutmeg – either already ground or freshly grated

Optional: Vanilla

Place frozen bananas, then raw almond butter in a gallon jar. Add just enough

water to cover bananas. Blend thoroughly with a hand blender. Add enough water

to make a gallon, and blend to mix throughout. Add nutmeg to flavor the gallon

of nog, or add to each individual serving.
