Guest guest
I make these every year to give away. Tonight we'll be going to a dessert buffet party, and I just finished making another batch. Candied Pretzels 1 package vanilla bark (also called Vanilla Flavored Candy Coating -- I think Log House's Candiquick tastes the best) 1 package tiny twist pretzels Melt bark pieces in a large heat-resistant glass bowl in the microwave, stirring every 30 seconds to make sure nothing scorches (or use a double boiler on the stove). When candy bark is melted, dip both sides of each pretzel and lay on a sheet of plastic wrap spread on the counter. When bark has cooled completely, remove from wrap and place in a tight container. Peppermint Bark 12 candy canes 1 package vanilla bark Unwrap each candy cane and place in a ziplock freezer bag. Put the bag on a cutting board (not on your counter) and break peppermints into tiny pieces, the largest 1/4 by 1/4 inch square. Use a hammer or other object, taking care not to puncture the bag. Melt the bark as above. When it is melted, pour the broken peppermints into a seive or colander held over the melted bark. Shake until no more powdered peppermint comes out. Stir the powder into the bark thoroughly to give it a peppermint taste. Then dump the peppermint pieces into the bark and stir well. Spread onto a cookie sheet or roaster covered with plastic wrap. Allow to cool. When thoroughly cooled, break into chunks and store in a tight container. These can be placed on paper plates and wrapped attractively with plastic wrap with a bow on top and given away. Sherry in Oregon
