I went to a new store a few days ago and bought Red Star brand nutritional

yeast in a container. It says: " Best if stored in a cool dark place or

refrigerator. " Until now I've bought bulk & stored it in the cabinet. I'll

contact Red Star and see what I can find out. www.redstaryeast.com

Yeast ,in general, once opened needs to be stored in the 'freidge to keep it

at maximum potency. Otherwise it goes bad faster than the date on the jar.

What happens is that it just slowly stops working as well and you would need

to keep adding moer. This is why sometimes bread dosen't rise.

I knew that about bread yeast, which is alive, but I've always read

the nutritional yeast is different - I don't even know if it's alive

at the point the we buy it. I think not, but just don't know enough

about it. :-7
