Guest guest
Question Of The Week! This is coming a bit late, but then i was busy with the holiday festivities here at home and not spending any time online. Here is our weekly group question: What are you doing New Year's Eve? [share your plans, hopes, dreams, resolutions, recipes, etc] ~ pt ~ When you live in Texas, every single time you see snow itÕs magical. ~ Pamela Ribon, Why Girls Are Weird, 2003
Guest guest
not a thing. We'll probably do what we always do, fall asleep around 10 and get up at midnight when the neighbors set off fireworks, mumble under our breath that they woke up the baby and then get over it because it's a special event. Last year we had a little party for our kids, nothing major since we had a newborn. We made all kinds of appetizers and had those and some bubbly I don't think any of us made it past 10pm Plans/hopes/dreams - to lose the baby weight, to get back into writing daily and start publishing some new stuff, to remember to brush my teeth every day (hey, I have four kids home all day, two are toddlers, if I remember to shower it's been a good day). On another topic but kind of a resolution, my husband has been dilly-dallying on the vegetarian thing, he only decided a few weeks ago to join me and not eat meat. We agreed to not pressure each other into denying meat if it's a gift (dinner at someone else's place, for example) and we wouldn't deny the kids meat when we are at a restaurant, we want them to grow to make their own decisions. We agreed not to purchase meat in any form and not to cook it in our home. I do 90% of the cooking, not by choice, hubby loves to cook and is better at it, but his work hours don't allow for that. We made the decision for personal and health reasons. We dont believe that in our environment we need animal flesh to survive, and we don't like the hormones and other crap they give the animals. Well, twice this week hubby has come home with meat for me to cook and I wouldn't. I dont mind him & the kids having it, but he knows we agreed not to bring it into the house and I don't have to cook it. I gave in though, and I want to not do that again. If he wants fish, he can have it, but I'm not cooking it. Does that sound selfish of me? For years I did the veggie burger thing as they ate the roast I cooked, I was so excited to start cooking real and full veggie meals that we could all enjoy, without complaining about no meat. I have such mixed feelings about it, like I should serve them, but I want to retaliate with my " i am cooking, eat what I cook or cook it yourself " . I mean, I expect the kids to eat what i make regardless of if they like it or not (though I stay away from mushrooms and olives, or make it so they can pick them off, i'm not trying to torture the kids, LOL). It's to the point where I make a full dinner, we sit down to eat, and he gets up and nukes a microwave meal, which I believe sets a bad standard for the kids. he could try a little and eat his meal after they go to bed, I don't know... meg ~ PT ~ wrote: > Question Of The Week! > > This is coming a bit late, but then i was busy with the > holiday festivities here at home and not spending any > time online. Guest guest
Hi Meg: In our family my daughter and I are vegetarian and my son and husband are not. I make dinner and if they want meat my husband cooks it to go with what I am making. I don't cook meat and I haven't in years.. I have been vegetarian for almost 15 yearss however I have been married for 23 years. I make things like pasta with tomatoe sauce and if they want meat they can make meatballs or chicken or whatever they want. If I make refried beans they have it an again if they want meat with it they make it. It's a compromise however I was the one that changed my eating and forcing it him would just make him resent me. gayle Meg <itszen4me Tue, 27 Dec 2005 17:38:24 -0500 Re: QOTW: Dec. 25th-31st not a thing.
