Guest guest
i have another recipe for a homemade kahlua in my personal recipe files that i have used for years, but it took up to 8 weeks to make. When i found this recipe i was quite pleased that you could make it up all in one night and have it ready for gifting the next day! Tastes so good, too. It makes a lovely hostess/host gift if you are going to a New Year's Eve/Hogmanay party. Kahlua 1 quart water 3 cups granulated sugar [sugar in the raw or turbinado] 3 Tbs. instant espresso granules* 2 Tbs. vanilla extract 1 fifth vodka In a large pan, combine water, sugar and instant coffee. Boil very gently for one hour. Let cool. Add vanilla extract and vodka; mix well. Pour into bottles and store in a dark cupboard. This is great in coffee or over ice cream. Yield: 2 fifths *For the instant espresso granules i use Medaglia D'Oro brand, but you can use whatever instant coffee you prefer. http://www.medagliadoro.com/products.htm ~ pt ~ Winter lies too long in country towns; hangs on until it is stale and shabby, old and sullen. ~ Willa Cather (1873 - 1947), My Antonia
Guest guest
This is GREAT! My DH just bought a bottle for me for Christmas... I don't drink much but like to have a social drink during the holidays..... I usually don't buy it so he thought he'd surprise me... he paid $36 for it. They are very proud of their product! I'll have to try this.... probably much cheaper and just as good! Robin in NC
